Since 2010, Manuel Pinho is affiliated to the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University. In the United States, he was also a professor at Yale and Georgetown uniersities.He travels regularly to China and was a Visiting Professor at Renmin University and Beijing Foreign Studies University. His main interests are energy policy and Asia. He was the Minister of Economy and Innovation of Portugal in 2005- 2009. In that capacity, he led the reforms that transformed Portugal in one of the world leaders in renewable energies. Previously, he was Director General of the Treasury and worked on banking. He started his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund. Manuel Pinho holds a doctoral degree in economics from University of Paris- X.
